Benefits & Characteristics of an Envelope Flap Box:
An envelope-enclosing base on a carton has a few practical advantages over the standard tuck flap box:
Stronger base / better load support: the overlapping “envelope” panels reinforce the bottom, helping the carton hold weight more reliably (often comparable in strength to more premium bases, depending on board grade and design).
More secure closure: the interlocking folds create a tight, stable base that’s less likely to pop open in handling.
Cost-effective vs. crash-lock: it typically uses a simpler manufacturing process (and can be cheaper to produce) than a crash-lock/auto-lock base.
Good for flat packing & shipping: cartons ship flat and can be erected on demand.
